We are pleased to advise that our decoders (except Next18, PluX22 and XL) come with wiring pre-soldered for easier fixing of stay-alive / power pak components. To compliment these we are now offering the Train-O-Matic Smart Power Pack within your choice options. Fitting instructions are included in the package. Wires need soldering and CVs need adjusting. If height is a limiting factor choose the SPP-N at circa 33 x 9.4 x 6.5 mm, (l x w x h), if length is the problem choose the SPP (normal) at circa 22 x 10 x 13.5 mm.
We regret we cannot guarantee the SPP will fit in your loco with or without modification. Please note the L and XL decoders do not come with a speaker, on the basis that the type and size of speaker is likely to vary considerably, and some newer locos may well have one fitted as standard.
V5 6 and 8 pin Micro Decoders are no longer suitable for direct wiring due to a change in the harness design. If you wish to do this please order the V5 Micro with wire connections or 8 pin normal size decoder and cut the supplied plug off.
PLEASE NOTE: We are now able to offer a decoder fitting service through a third party affiliate. Loksound V5 DCC Sound Decoder with Diesel Class 37/0 loaded.
Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway has undertaken the recording of railway locomotives used on its line, and preparing a Loksound decoder chip using these recordings for sale to railway modellers using DCC and sound. The first three of these have been available for some time. Recordings have been taken from GWR 1366 Class pannier 1369, the BR 08 Vac only Diesel shunter D3018 "Haversham" and BR Class 17 Clayton D8568. Following the success of these three the range has now been extended by the release of BR 08 Dual Braked Diesel Shunter 08825, Classes 20, 25, 31, 33, 37/0, 50, 52 and 66. LMS/BR 5MT (Black 5), BR 7MT (Britannia), Ivatt 2MT, 8F, 9F, GWR Manor, Hall, 45XX, 64XX & 57XX and SR Bulleid Merchant Navy.
Currently you are looking at the details of the Class 37/0. The others are available by checking out our other posted sales. We can offer all our sounds on a range of Loksound decoders, so choose the one which is applicable to your particular locomotive. If your loco is "DCC Ready" or "DCC Fitted" then this should not be difficult to locate and the Loksound decoder can be plugged into the socket already there. If your loco does not have a DCC socket then you will have to either wire one in, or cut off the plug supplied and hardwire the decoder to the power inputs from the track.
If anything goes wrong the downside is not too expensive! Loksound 5 decoders (except the XL) have as standard a sugar cube speaker 15mm x 11mm plus a sound chamber kit. Please also note that if you are considering using your own speaker then Loksound 4 & 5 decoders require it to be rated at around 4 Ohms. If your spare speaker came from a Loksound 3.5 then more than likely it will be rated at 50 or more Ohms, and as such will not produce much sound!
For a smaller loco we recommend the micro decoder. Should you want to receive the sound on any other ESU Loksound Decoder not listed in the sale options this can be arranged, but there may be a despatch delay whilst these are sourced. A YouTube recording is available to listen to our offerings here...Please copy and paste if the link becomes broken. Each Decoder comes with a leaflet, and that for the Class 37/0 is reproduced below. For other CV values, settings, etc. Please see the ESU booklet available online from ESU.
Your decoder will be supplied as requested. With a 6, 8 or 21 pin connection and speaker. Before fitting ensure your locomotive is compatible with your choice and that you are competent in undertaking the work involved, in both accessing the internals of the locomotive and fitting a decoder and speakers.
Kit bashing may be required! If necessary suitable guides can usually be found on the internet and/or You-Tube. We regret any faults or failures caused by incorrect fitting will result in a repair charge being levied, assuming a repair is possible! We are now able to offer a decoder fitting service through a third party affiliate. I hope you enjoy driving your model with the sound of the Class 37/0. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: PLEASE APPLY FOR COSTS. WE WILL ONLY DESPATCH BY "FULLY INSURED AND SIGNATURE" SERVICES. We are proud to represent the sound of a refurbished Class 37 and well go as far as saying, this is even better than our last mapping. The tune of the Class 37s 12CSVT engine has been well captured and its top end thrash will bring your model Class 37 to life. First press F1, the primer will start. The first start of the day will be a cold start and your loco will cough into life and the cold start sequence will begin. Please note, cold start sequence lasts for about a minute or two and will then run into a cold tick over when you can then move the model. All subsequent restarts will be warm starts where your loco will burst into life. Should you wish to avoid a cold start, simply press F9.This sound project has been created to enable it to be driven and will respond to how you drive it. Drive it gently, it will rev up in an according manner. Wind that power handle round, and the thrash will commence!
Should you wish to experience the maximum thrash, when the loco is stationary wind the controller rapidly to ¾ maximum power. Youll hear the engine thrash into its train. Youll also notice that the engine will momentarily spool down and the turbo whine becomes noticeable before the thrash recommences. This is the anti-slip and real life behaviours being replicated.
Note, when the loco slips, youll need to drop the power and then resume the speed step you applied. When you change ends, youll hear your driver dump the brakes, AWS will sound and a small hiss as the driver opens up the other desk in the other cab end. With this sound chip, it is highly recommended a bass reflex speaker is used to really get the maximum out of this project.
Or, if you really want the thrash, an EM2 speaker. Please note, increasing the decoder volume may distort the sound due to Clipping. Reverse of the page will give you the function list and sound slot CV details. Should a decoder reset be required, please program CV8 to 8.Your decoder will be supplied as requested, with a 6, 8, 21 pin plug, or bare wires. Before fitting ensure your locomotive is compatible with your choice and that you are competent in undertaking the work involved. We regret any faults or failures caused by incorrect fitting will result in a repair charge being levied. Please note the Cab Lights (if fitted) will only work via F15 / F16 if they are wired up to AUX 1 and/or AUX 2.
Some locos may have both ends wired to one AUX (probably AUX 1) so they will work in tandem. In that case if you wish to work them individually it will be necessary to re-wire the lights on one end to AUX 2 on the decoder socket. This should only be done by somebody with appropriate knowledge. We cannot be held responsible for any failures in this area. Or other CV values, settings, etc. Please see the manual available for download from ESUs website. All ESU V5 decoders (except XL) now come with a sugar cube speaker as standard. Please note that with this type of speaker it is important the sound box is well sealed. We suggest this is tested prior to fitting and if necessary using something like Blutack may assist in closing any minute gaps. Please read ch6 of the manual for full instructions.
We hope you enjoy driving your model with the sound of a Class 37/0. Providing a contact telephone number.
